The Tampa Museum of Art generously provides learning opportunities for all Kindergarten through 12th grade students in the community by offering free docent-led educational tours to all public, home-schooled, and private school groups in Hillsborough County. Museum officials have realized that providing access is not sufficient. One of the biggest obstacle to getting students and schools to the Museum is transportation. For various reasons, many students and administrators within the district lack the funding and resourses necessary to transport large numbers of students on an art outing.
The Museum's Art Line grants provide the financial support schools need in order to transport their students to and from the Museum. Money raised on Give Day will go towards Art Line grants, and will help to reach a greater number of teachers and school children who would otherwise not have this opportunity to visit an art museum, nor the inclination to understand that their community art museum belongs to them and their families.
Give Day Tampa Bay is a community-wide, 24-hour online giving challenge hosted by The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. This charitable event helps Tampa Bay area nonprofits raise much-needed dollars and bring awareness to the numerous challenges facing these organizations.
Last year, Give Day Tampa Bay raised $1.75 million for 550 Tampa Bay area nonprofit organizations. This year, our goal is to help an even larger number of worthy organizations and to raise even more money.
How it Works
It's so simple to participate. Just visit https://giveday.org/ on May 3, 2016 anytime between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. and with just a few simple clicks, you can make a donation to your favorite nonprofit organization, which is of course, the Tampa Museum of Art. Donations from the public will be boosted with funds from corporate sponsors of Give Day Tampa Bay. Nonprofits can also win monetary awards and additional prizes based on their day's donations. They will remind you of the date, but plan to participate and check the website often to see how they are doing!
