Tampa Riverwalk & Bike Path Opens









     After a much anticipated wait by it's residents, The City of Tampa is set to not only reveal the new secure Cass Street two-way bike path, but also the long awaited grand opening of the of the Tampa Riverwalk segment. Cass Street recently became  two way accessible after the City Council approved an $8.7 million project to turn E Cass and E Tyler streets more pedestrian-friendly thoroughfares by transforming them from one-way to two-way streets back in 2014.  

     Tampa Bay is thrilled to reach this important milestone; after almost four decades, the final segment  has reached completion.  “The Riverwalk has been in the making for 40 years, an it has taken the efforts of six mayors and the support of the Obama Administration to be completed. Its construction represents the importance of the Hillsborough River as our best natural asset,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn when the first portion was unveiled last year.







     The first event Riverfront Scavenger Hunt will follow the Tampa Downtown Partnership will also showcase their new eight-passenger surreys.  The tram will span from the Riverwalk to the Laurel Street Bridge for the Doyle Carlton Riverwalk segment ribbon cutting with Mayor Bob Buckhorn and other officials.  


Attendees can expect to enjoy plenty of music and sample a little of everything from the bevy of food carts that will be available.  


Festivities are set to begin on Saturday, June 11, at 10am sharp at Perry Harvey Sr. Park.
